Weekly Services WHAT TO EXPECT ON SUNDAY MORNING Worship Service begins at 11:00 a.m. on Sundays You come through the front double doors, down the hall into the circular narthex and are greeted by several people. You go through the double doors into the sanctuary and your eyes are drawn over the large communion table, over the pulpit to the cross hanging above and through the cross to the limbs and leaves of the forest beyond—God's creation. You join the multi-generational, multi-ethnic congregation of worshipers. Organist/pianist Lynn Kamm begins to play. You are glad to be in the presence of the Lord. The service begins with a welcome from the pastor, who introduces the pulpit assistant who continues with the service. Hymns, prayers, thankfulness in Christ's assurance of forgiveness, an opportunity to greet your neighbor there in the pew in the name of our Lord. Then you enjoy a mini-sermon as you overhear the children being talked to up front. Then you say goodbye to the children as they go to their own class. A challenge to personal stewardship, a prayer time in which both pastor and people pray, singing by special people and all the people, scripture readings from Old Testament and New, and a Bible-based, impacting sermon followed by an opportunity to affirm your faith. If today is the first Sunday of the month, you have the opportunity, with all other baptized folks who call on the name of the Lord, to partake in the Lord's Supper. After the final hymn and benediction, you have an opportunity to meet the pastor and others. You even have an opportunity to join others for the occasional dinner downstairs or go with the “Lunch Bunch” to a local restaurant for food and fellowship. Your day with our church does not have to end. You can return to church later in the afternoon for a lively Bible discussion and prayer group. What could be more fulfilling than spending time with God and a special group of God's people in worship?
